A new link for us but the Firemen from Vendom, France joined those from Lahnstein at the Eurosquirt of 2001. A small GVFB group visited Vendom for a few days during October 2002 to arrange a full visit during 2003. Vendom is situated in the Loire Valley a fine wine producing area.

A plan to take the Queen Eleanor across the channel has had to be abandoned as the engine will be off the road for some 6 months for a thorough overhaul.

The photograph (right) shows the French during the 2001 Eurosquirt with their distinctive helmets. These are gold plated and one was presented to GVFB and is proudly displayed at the fire station.

During the visit to Vendom it was discovered that the Eurosquirt concept has spread with their German twin town sending a team for a three way event during our 2003 visit.

We hope to develop this relationship into a permanent feature of GVFB activity.
